Первый пациент был облучен протонами в Беркли (США) в 1954 году. Всю историю протонной те- рапии можно разделить на два периода: экспериментальный (1954–1990 гг.) и, начиная с 1990 г., – быстрого внедрения протонной лучевой терапии (ПЛТ) в практическое здравоохранение. Результаты, достигнутые в ПЛТ, проблемы сегодняшнего дня, новые тенденции кратко обсуждаются в статье.

The first patient has been irradiated by protons in 1954 in Berkley Cal, USA. All history of the proton therapy included two stages: the experimental one (1954–1990) and the second one since 1990 – fast introduction of the proton therapy to the public health. Russia was the third country (after the USA and Sweden) where since 1968 the clinical research has been initiated. The reached results in the field of the proton therapy, the today problems, and the tendencies are discussed shortly in the article.
